HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Workshop_05/21/1980• MINUTES OF THE ANNEXATION COMMITTEE MEETING WITH THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA May 21, 19$0 A Workshop of the Annexation Committee and the Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, was held at 5:06 P.M., Wednesday, May 21, 19$0 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. Councilmembers present were, Cook and Mapes. Also present were Robert Harp, Village Manager, Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk, and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney, Annexation Committeemembers present were, Beddow, Blodgett, Moore and Pierson. Also present was Mr. Dick Hutchinson, Beach Road Association. Beddow reviewed with Council the Annexation Committee's feelings and thoughts. Beddow told Council that the Committee felt that the area pass 400 Beach Road was an important area to work on for annexation into the Village. . It was also the Committee's feelings that Council should adopt Palm Beach County's height limitation, but only after the property owners have asked to be annexed. The Committee also agreed on other steps that could be taken, such as: 1. construction of watermain provision on annexation of majority of properties, 2. surcharge of water and 3. amendment of Florida Statutes on Annexation. .The Committee feels that "Dual Taxation" is a problem with annexing into the Village, but this problem may be resolved by the "Fair Tax Council" of Palm Beach County.
