HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Local Planning Agency_06/26/1979• MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA June 26, 1979 A Public Hearing of the Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida was held at 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, June 26, 1979 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. Councilmembers present were Mapes, Ryan and Yoder. Mayor Brown had advised he may be late in arriving. Councilmember Cook was out-of-town. Also present were Robert Harp, Village Manager, Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney. Vice-Mayor Mapes called the meeting to order. The Public Hearing was being held to consider: The Application of St. Jude's Church, U.S. Highway No. 1, Tequesta, Florida for an expansion, enlargement or modification of an existing special exception use in the R-1 Single Family Dwelling District to provide for the construction of a new Parish Center as part of the Church complex. • The Village Manager told Council that in 1963 the St. Jude's Church was permitted to build at their present location. When they came to the Village to build a Parish Center the Village found that the Church had to come before the Council and a Public Hearing. Notice of the Public Hearing has been duly advertised in the Courier on June 11, 1979 and posted on June 6, 1979. There were nine (9) letters sent to property owners within 500 feet of the Church, a letter was also sent to Palm Beach County's Planning, Zoning and Building Department and a letter was sent to the Palm Beach County Commissioners. No response has been received. The plans had gone before the Community Appearance Board for their review. In a litter to the Village from the Chairman of the Community Appearance Board, Ruth E. Butterfield, and in the letter it stated that, "the Board was in unanimous agreement that this expansion or enlargement of the Chur:ch's Special Exception Use in an R-1 Zoned District will not adversely affect any surrounding properties and will conform to the criteria set forth in Section 16.7 Special Exception Uses (1) (a) through (g) of the Village Zoning Code". The Village Manager also informed the Council that this will go before the Site Plan Review. Mr. Stan Oblaczynski, Representative for St. Jude's Church 07-06-79 -02 told Council that there were no new outlets to U.S. ~1. He also said they were not increasing the size of the Church but building . to accomodate the people they have already.
